Compare ARQ, AI Visualizer and an Archicad plugin

ARQ works after existing design software, enhancing the JPG or PNG design images teams already create. It automatically compares the result with the original design and flags possible changes. A person makes the final approval decision. ARQ does not open PLN projects, read Archicad objects or write changes back to the model.

Graphisoft describes AI Visualizer 2.0 as a way to develop images from compositions such as sketches and model views. That makes it worth investigating for early visual exploration. Use your actual room and intended task to assess the result rather than choosing from unrelated showcase images.

Raya's Archicad panel is a documented third-party option. Its current page lists Archicad 26 or later on Windows and macOS, with an account, internet connection and generation credits. Raya says the panel captures the current view as an image and does not modify the project. A free plugin download therefore should not be read as unlimited free generation.

Check your Archicad AI Visualizer version first

Search results mix different generations of AI Visualizer. Graphisoft's official FAQ distinguishes the legacy Archicad 27 experiment from the cloud service built into Archicad from version 28. Do not apply an old local-engine installation tutorial to a newer built-in service.

Service note checked 14 September 2026: Graphisoft says AI Visualizer 1.0 in Archicad 28 accepts English prompts only from 10 September and is scheduled to stop generating images on 9 October 2026. It has announced AI Visualizer 3.0 for Archicad 29 and 30 with the Archicad 30 release. Read the current transition notice before relying on access. Announced changes are not evidence that a future version is already available.

Record the Archicad release, operating system and licence used by the person doing the work. Check those against the current service requirements. If the control is missing or generation is unavailable, resolve access first; rewriting the room prompt will not solve an account or version issue.

Prepare an Archicad interior view for AI rendering

A useful starting image makes the important design decisions visible. Prepare the view before asking AI to improve its appearance. For a kitchen, the person comparing the result should be able to identify cabinet divisions, the appliance arrangement and the boundaries between each finish.

  1. Use the current design revision. Confirm the intended layout and product arrangement in Archicad. If the client has changed the island or tall units, update the model before preparing another presentation.
  2. Save a deliberate camera view. Choose an angle that explains the room. Avoid a crop that hides the detail the client must decide on. Keep the camera available so you can return to it after a revision.
  3. Show clear material boundaries. Distinguish cabinet fronts, worktops, splashbacks and walls in the starting view. If two adjacent surfaces look identical, a short prompt may not resolve the ambiguity.
  4. Create and inspect the input image. For a separate image workflow, save a suitable JPG or PNG using your version's image-saving options. Open the file itself and check the crop, readability and absence of selection outlines or distracting interface elements.
  5. Keep a small handoff record. Store the original image with the project revision, camera name and finish brief. Another team member should be able to identify what it represents without opening a chat history.

Write a kitchen rendering brief with clear boundaries

Describe the requested improvement separately from the decisions that must remain fixed. A prompt such as "make this a luxury kitchen" leaves the meaning of luxury open. A narrower brief gives the designer a clearer basis for deciding whether the result is usable.

Example brief for an existing design

Improve the realism of this kitchen design image with soft daylight and natural-looking surface detail. Keep the same camera, cabinet layout, door divisions, handles, appliances, sink and tap positions. Cabinet fronts are matt warm grey; the island front is natural oak; the worktop is pale stone. Keep those materials on their named surfaces. Do not add lighting fixtures, shelving or decorative objects.

This is a suggested brief, not a tested preservation recipe. Replace its material descriptions with the actual specification. Avoid requesting a new finish while simultaneously asking for every material to remain unchanged. When exploring options, name the one permitted change and keep each option separate from the selected design.

Use reference images only where the chosen tool supports them, and explain whether they represent a finish or an atmosphere. A room reference may contain furniture you do not want. Our kitchen material-control guide develops this distinction.

Turn a promising result into a client presentation

Compare the generated image beside the original at both room scale and detail scale. For the example kitchen, inspect the tall-unit divisions, oven stack, island overhang, sink position, handles and material boundaries. Reject an appealing result if it shows a different arrangement.

If the image needs a correction, keep the original design as the reference and make one clear request. If the design itself has changed, return to Archicad and create a fresh input. Repeatedly editing an already changed image can make it harder to tell which decisions came from the model.

Check a multi-view set together before presenting it. An oak island must not become a different finish in the second view. Keep the same revision and brief across the set; use the material-consistency guide for the handoff.

The model, drawings, product schedule and physical samples remain authoritative for dimensions and specified products. Present an AI image as a visual explanation of the design, with any unresolved differences clearly identified.

Trial the whole workflow before choosing software

Use one representative project and the same saved camera for each candidate. Record the time to prepare the input, generate, correct, compare and approve a usable image. Include subscription access, generation credits and any separate enlargement or video step in your cost comparison.

Keep unsuccessful attempts in that record. A fast first image does not establish a faster completed task. Ask the colleague who normally presents the design whether the result is useful, and whether they can trace it to the original revision. That is a more relevant buying test than the most impressive example on a product page.
